Possessive articles

Possessive articles show ownership. They follow the same endings as the indefinite article (ein-) and must agree with the gender and case of the noun they accompany — not with the possessor.

Examples

Das ist mein Bruder. / Wo ist deine Tasche? / Er liebt sein Auto. / Sie liest ihr Buch.

⚠️ sein (his) and ihr (her) look the same in nominative — context clarifies. Also: euer loses its -e- when endings are added: eure, eurem, euren.

Exemplos

  • Das ist mein Bruder.

    This is my brother.

  • Ich sehe seine Schwester.

    I see his sister.
