Futur I — Future tense
Futur I is formed with the auxiliary werden (present tense) + the infinitive at the end of the sentence. It expresses future plans, predictions, and — importantly — assumptions/conjectures about the present or future.
Conjugation of werden

Uses of Futur I

| Future plan | Ich werde morgen lernen. | I will study tomorrow. |
| Prediction | Es wird morgen regnen. | It will rain tomorrow. |
| Assumption (present) | Er wird jetzt schlafen. | He is probably sleeping now. |
| Promise | Ich werde dir helfen! | I will help you! |
In spoken German, present tense + time adverb is more natural for concrete plans: Ich fahre morgen nach Berlin = Ich werde morgen nach Berlin fahren.
⚠️ Three uses of werden: (1) Futur I = werden + infinitive; (2) Passive = werden + Partizip II; (3) Standalone = to become (Er wird Arzt).
