Past Perfect (Plusquamperfekt)
Explicação
You write "Nachdem ich gegessen habe, bin ich gegangen" and it gets marked wrong. The sentence makes sense, but in German nachdem forces one more step back in time. That step is the Plusquamperfekt.
What it is
The Plusquamperfekt expresses an action that happened before another past action — the past of the past.
hatte + Partizip II (haben verbs) · war + Partizip II (sein verbs). hatte and war are the Präteritum of haben and sein.
The golden rule with nachdem
nachdem always requires the Plusquamperfekt in the subordinate clause, with Präteritum or Perfekt in the main clause.

Two Perfekt clauses with nachdem. English "after he ate, he left" works fine; German needs the anteriority marked in the tense itself.
