Explicação

Konjunktiv I — Reported speech

Konjunktiv I is used in formal indirect/reported speech (journalism, academic writing, official reports) to convey what someone said without endorsing its truth. It signals distance — the writer is reporting, not confirming.

Formation: infinitive stem + specific endings (no umlaut)

PersonEndingkommenhabensein
ich-ekommehabesei
du-estkommesthabestseiest
er/sie/es-ekommehabesei
wir-enkommenhabenseien
ihr-etkommethabetseiet
sie/Sie-enkommenhabenseien

In reported speech

Direct speechReported (Konjunktiv I)
Er sagt: "Ich komme morgen."Er sagt, er komme morgen.
Sie sagt: "Ich bin krank."Sie sagt, sie sei krank.
Er sagt: "Ich habe keine Zeit."Er sagt, er habe keine Zeit.

Substitution with Konjunktiv II

When Konjunktiv I form = Indicative (especially wir/sie/Sie), Konjunktiv II is used as a substitute: Sie sagen, sie kämen morgen.

⚠️ In spoken German, Konjunktiv I is rare. dass + Indicative is preferred: Er sagt, dass er morgen kommt. Konjunktiv I is a marker of formal written register.
